Hans Schafler moved from Denmark to Canada following the Second World War. After working for a number of publishers in the Toronto area, he founded Hans Schafler & Company in 1969 in the growing community of Oakville, Ontario. In a van loaded with books, he criss-crossed the country many times, visiting school librarians. The company’s books found their way on the shelves of many libraries, and were beloved by many readers.
After Hans retired, his daughters, Lisbeth and Ulla, took the reins and continue to serve libraries and librarians across Canada today.
